*Björk: Biophilia LIVE

Uncategorized

The other night Tristan and I saw this live filming of Björk’s most recent project, Biophilia. I thought it would be interesting, but nothing to write home about. However, I was completely taken back by the compelling beauty of this film (both visually and musically). Being familiar with the album, I was curious to see how the live performance of it would represent Björk’s aesthetic vision and inspiration. Directed and edited by Peter Strickland and Nick Fenton, the recording was captured in London in 2013. It also had a theatrical premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26 2014 (with subsequent screenings around the world).
The imagery within the film — including the incredible choir which accompanied Björk, was intoxicating. Björk donned Iris van Herpen — and I don’t think there could be a better designer to be associated with Björk’s own hybrid indulgences. Do yourself a favor and see this gorgeous film in theaters.
