*Sublime Monotony (badass student work)

My Life

This fall I began teaching at the Vancouver Island School of Art. Sculpture: Intro to Materials, and Post Modern Art History. Both are a lot of fun!
I was exceptionally excited by the results of this week’s assignment: Sublime Monotony. The conceptual theme behind the object the students were to create had to represent notions of glamorizing a monotonous, found object (a la Claus Oldenburg).
Students found small everyday-objects that appealed to them and made them ‘larger than life’ by re-creating a larger version using a wire armature, and Papier mâché. So much fun!! Great job class!
